Sharjah: The 19th Sharjah International Arabian Horse Festival, sponsored by Sharjah International Airport Authority (SIA), is all set for a gala opening on Thursday.

Held under the patronage of His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, the event runs until Saturday at the Sharjah Equestrian and Racing Club (SERC).

SIA highlighted that its continued sponsorship of the Festival is part of its support to many initiatives, events, activities and important sporting events.

Ali Salim Al Midfa, Chairman of Sharjah Airport Authority, said: “Sharjah International Arabian Horse Festival has gained wide recognition locally and regionally under the patronage of His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi and the follow-up of Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, Chairman of the Executive Council, which had a profound impact on the Festival’s development and success.”

Al Midfa added: “We are delighted to renew our sponsorship of this Festival, which is one of the most important international events specialised in Arabian horses in the region.

“This event attracts horses and equestrian enthusiasts to Sharjah from inside and outside the UAE which enhances Sharjah’s status in organising and hosting local and international sporting events.”

Shaikh Faisal Bin Saoud Al Qasimi, Director of Sharjah Airport Authority, commented: “We are delighted to continue to support this Festival, which contributes year after year to enhance the status of Sharjah in the organisation of festivals, especially horse festivals that are of public interest.

“It is encouraging to note that the event is attended by a selection of owners of the purest and finest breeds of Arabian thoroughbreds, which represent a symbol of pride and reflect the long history of the Arab environment and culture.”

The festival attracts significant attention from all over the world through the participation of some of the purest breeds of thoroughbreds in the Festival, which has been held under the sponsorship of SIA for many years.
