Seraphin Du Paon in bid for second consecutive win
Dh1m on offer for tonight's race
Abu Dhabi: Tonight's HH The President of The UAE Cup, which carries one of the richest prize funds for Purebred Arabian horse races, has attracted a classy field, including last year's winner Seraphin Du Paon.
The 16-strong field is made up of Group 1 winners, Group 1 campaigners and a few promising runners, and with Dh1 million on offer a cracking contest is on the cards.
Seraphin Du Paon won the Prep race to get ready for another big double starting with tonight's Group 1 race. The Ernst Oertel-trained Seraphin Du Paon won the President's Cup last year and then went on to win the Kahayla Classic, and the Al Asayl trainer wants to repeat that feat.
"We are really looking forward to Sunday - this has been his first main target all along, and we are very hopeful. If all goes well he will also be back to defend his Meydan crown at the end of March but we will get Sunday out of the way first," said Oertel.
Mirco Demuro will be riding the star.
