Dubai: The Royal Equestrian Club, Dubai will conduct four innovative events as part of its activities for the 2016-2017 season highlighted by the Knights Championship and the Equestrian World Conference Majlis.

Other events on the calendar will also include an Equestrian World Fashion Show and a Horses and Cavalry Talent Show Championship.

The Royal Equestrian Club was founded in 2009 under the Chairmanship of Saif Khalifa Al Mizaina and Mustafa Ali Amshan, its CEO, with the aim of providing the best training and facilities in the field of equestrian sport.

The Dubai Government Employees Knights Championship has been launched in partnership with government departments, and is aimed at training employees in the highly-skilled field of equestrian sport.

The training will focus on horse riding and will include both theory and practical training which will be provided by professional and qualified trainers.

Speaking at a press conference that was attended by Ghazi Madani, Director of the Dubai Sports Council, and several representatives of Government Departments, Amshan said: “This is the first ever course of its kind in the world and it will be held for the first time to encourage the growth of equine sport and competition between government departments.

“The first phase of the event will be held on December 9 at the headquarters of the Royal Equestrian Club which will lead to a second phase in a bid to take the participants skills higher at the state level.”

Amshan said that the second stage will offer participants the platform to perform at a competition organised by the UAE Equestrian Federation.

Equine athletes from the Government Departments will perform under the umbrella of Royal Equestrian Club which is the authority supervising the training of cavalry.

Amshan said that the Equestrian World Conference Majlis will be held on the first Thursday of each month, starting in October, to create a forum for world equestrian stables to discuss and share ideas for the betterment of the Industry. At the conclusion reports on the issues discussed will be submitted to authorities of the equestrian world to help develop solutions and proposals.

“It will also be a platform for the long term to discuss scientific courses in horsemanship and to help share knowledge among doctors and specialists, and also act as a meeting place for traders and to educate people interested in equestrian sport,” he added.

Amshan said that the Equestrian Fashion Show will be held between October 25-27 and will involve all those associated with equestrian sport. The event, which will feature the world’s leading equine brands, will be judged by a panel of qualified and talented judges with the winners receiving attractive cash awards and others.

The Cavalry Talent Show Championship is a unique event that will allow horsemen to display the talents of their horses and also their horsemanship. It is talent show aimed at highlighting the skills and creativity of the Knights and will be held in January, 2017.

Amshan added that valuable prizes have been allocated for the tournaments which are open to participants from all Gulf countries and around the world.

Saif Al Khalifa said that Royal Equestrain club’s innovative programme for the new season aimed to spread the science and culture of equestrian sport in keeping with the vision and philosophies of late Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan and His Highness Shaikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

Ghazi praised the Royal Equestrian Club for its innovative plans and said that they had the full support of the Dubai Sports Council.
