- Darej, ridden by jockey Dane O'Neill wins the 1200m Sharjah Police Headquarter race at Sharjah Equestrian & Racing Club on Saturday.
Trained by Ernst Oertel at the Al Asayl Stables in Abu Dhabi, the four-year-old Arabian justified the faith his trainer has in him with a dominant performance in the 1,700m maiden.
O’Shea and Oertel completed a meet double when Richlore comfortably won the concluding race on the card, a 1,200m conditions event.
Earlier in the afternoon, O’Shea partnered the Gill Duffield-trained AF Hasba to land a maiden event for UAE Bred Arabians. The winner was an effortless six-lengths ahead of Jaber Bittar’s Cercina.
Dane O’Neill bagged a double to join Wayne Smith at the top of the jockeys’ table with 13 winners for the season.
O’Neill won the thoroughbred opener with the Doug Watson-trained Darej and quickly followed it up 30 minutes later with a victory astride Anthony Manuel’s Ameer Al Sraya.
