Abu Dhabi: Cecilie Hatteland of Norway, riding horse Alex, won the final Grand Prix category with a time of 31.46 seconds in the final jump off at the FBMA International Show Jumping Cup on Sunday.

The final round of the Grand Prix category saw five countries competing for the prize — the UAE, Norway, Great Britain, Russia and Germany.

Anna Gorbacheva of Russia came second on Curt 13 while Georgia Tame of Great Britain was third on Cash Up.

Shaikha Latifa Bint Ahmad Al Maktoum of the UAE came fourth on Peanuts de Beaufour.

Miriam Schneider of Germany was fifth on Benur du Romet while the sixth place went to Anita Annika Sande of Norway with For Cash 2.

This year’s event saw unprecedented numbers of competitors with the highest number of international participants from 25 countries.

A total of 147 riders and 180 horses gathered at the impressive Al Forsan International Sports Resort. The trophy carried a total prize money of Dh650,500.

Shaikha Fatima Bint Hazza Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, chairwoman of Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy, President of the Abu Dhabi and the Al Ain ladies clubs said: “The FBMA International Show Jumping Cup 2018 has witnessed an increase in participation, in addition to a spectacular performance by Emirati riders, which is a culmination of our longstanding efforts to foster Abu Dhabi’s position as an international destination for major sports events, as well as encourage women to flourish in sports and achieve their potential.”

The first category of the final day was won by Tina Lund from Denmark- her third win of the Cup. She won on Celvita Z with times of 66.55 for round one and 32.64 for round two.

Second place was awarded to Georgia Tame from Great Britain riding Z Seven Caretina with times of 69.43 for round one and 32.94 for round two. Third place went to Frederic David from France who rode Levita VD Bisschop with times of 66.36 for round one and 33.48 for round two.

The second category was won by Abdul Rahman Ahmad Ameen from the UAE on horse Corando 11 with a time of 73.96 for round one and 36.72 for round two. Second place was awarded to Saad Al Ajami from KSA on HHS Dublin with times of 70.31 for round one and 28.63 for round two.
