Dubai The second Racing at Meydan meeting on Saturday features a competitive six-race card supported by Meydan Pillar Partner, the Saeed & Mohammad Al Naboodah Group.

The highlight of the meeting is the seven-furlong Swaidan Trading, Heavy Equipment Division Trophy for which 15 runners have been declared.

Dubai World Cup Carnival heavyweights Saeed Bin Surour and Mike de Kock are well represented, however, leading UAE trainer Musabah Al Muhairi appears to have the strongest claims with Chasing Halos. The seven-year-old son of Elusive Quality has produced some inspiring efforts this season with his six-furlong victory at this course in November being the standout.

“We’ve always liked this horse as he never runs a bad race,” said the Emirati handler who leads the trainer’s standings with 29 wins. “He’s run at both Meydan and Jebel Ali, but we believe that he should come on for his last run on the turf.”

Godolphin’s Bin Suroor relies on Pied A Terre, a former Group 2 winner when trained by Peter Snowden in Australia, and the trainer said: “He does not show a lot at home but we were pleased with him last time. Hopefully he can run well.”

De Kock runs Red Duke, winner of the Group 2 Superlative Stakes at Newmarket in 2011, and the maiden Final Button.

“They have both had a run this season and improved from it,” de Kock said. “On the whole, the horses are running well and hopefully both these two will be competitive in what looks a strong handicap.”

Bahraini trainer Fawzi Nass saddles Lui Rei, a seasoned handicapper from the UK, and Burj Alzain while Dhruba Selvaratnam has entered Otaared and Kessraa.

Doug Watson’s Kilt Rock and Famous Warrior add spice to an open-looking contest.

Abdullah Mohammad Juma Al Naboodah, Chairman of the Saeed & Mohammad Al Naboodah Holding, said: “Every year we look forward to the racing season in Dubai and our involvement with Meydan. This year, 2014 is no exception.

“For many years we have partnered with Meydan and reaped great PR exposure and entertaining opportunities from the marketing initiative. This is a major event for us and something we very much enjoy being part of.”

Racing at Meydan meetings will continue to run concurrent to the 2014 Dubai World Cup Carnival and Malih Al Basti, Board Member and Chairman of Meydan Racing Committee, said: “We look forward to hosting the Saeed & Mohammad Al Naboodah Group at Meydan.

“The Saeed & Mohammad Al Naboodah Group returns to Meydan later this season and we are grateful for the continued support from this highly regarded Dubai company.”
