Dubai: Trainer Mark Johnston looks to have two exciting chances at Doncaster on Friday, including the highly regarded Muraaqaba, who runs in the Group 2 May Hill Stakes, the feature race on day three of the prestigious St. Leger Festival.

The leading trainer in Britian this season with 181 wins, Johnston will be hoping to make it a fifth consecutive win for a Dubai-owned horse in the popular mile contest for juvenile fillies, which was dominated by the late Sir Henry Cecil, who amassed 12 victories between 1978 and 2001.

Ihtimal made it four consecutive wins for Godolphin in 2013, following Certify (2012), Lyric Of Light (2011) and White Moonstone (2010), while Muraaqaba bids to give Shaikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance, a first win in the race since Mamlakah triumphed in 1992.

Johnston also saddles the Shaikh Hamdan-owned Mukhmal in the Group 2 Flying Childers Stakes (Group 2), a two-year-old contest formerly known as the Norfolk Stakes.

Muraaqaba announced herself a star of the future when recording an impressive victory in the Group 3 Sweet Solera Stakes at Newmarket four weeks ago.

However, she faces a big threat from the Ed Lynam’s progressive Agnes Stewart in what appears to be a high-class renewal of a race that has produced two Oaks winners in Midway Lady (1985) and Reams Of Verse (1996).

Angus Gold, racing manager to Shaikh Hamdan, told Sky Sports: “She won well on her maiden and was then just taken off her feet a bit at Ascot over six [in the Princess Margaret Stakes].

“We upped her in trip and she won well. She’s progressive and is out of a very good mare [Nufoos] by a top stallion [Dubawi], so we’re hoping she can keep progressing. I don’t think the mile will be any problem to her.”

Richard Hannon is two-handed with Marsh Hawk and Shagah, while David O’Meara also saddles a pair of hopefuls in All About Time and the unbeaten Supreme Occasion.

Henry Candy’s Alonsoa and the Ed Dunlop-trained Arethusa are also worth keeping an eye on, while Astrelle (Marco Botti), Banzari (Michael Bell), Bonnie Grey (Rod Millman) and the debutant Teofilo’s Princess (Clive Brittain) complete the 12 entries.

Mukhmal, a son of Bahamian Bounty, faces 14 rivals headed by the Ger Lyons-trained Ainippe and George Baker’s Cotai Glory.

Ahlan Emarati represents Emirati businessman Ahmad Al Shaikh.

Godolphin’s Sand Vixen broke the juvenile course record with a time of 58.10 seconds when successful in 2009.
