Abu Dhabi: Mabrooka, a three-year-old filly owned by Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister of the UAE and Minister of Presidential Affairs, made a winning debut with a stunning triumph over fancied rivals in the Prix Djelfour (Conditions) race in Bordeaux, France, on Monday.

Trained by Didier Guillemin for Shaikh Mansour, who is also the breeder of the Mahabb filly, Mabrooka did very well under Alexandre Gavilan to finish ahead of two colts who were the favourites.

Mabrooka finished two lengths ahead of favourite Amjad Al Aziz under Jean-Bernard Eyquem, with Cakouet De Bozouls under Jean-Baptiste Hamel finishing third in the six-horse field.

Mabrooka completed the seven-furlong distance in 1min 37.76sec. The total prize fund for the Prix Dlejfour was €18,000 (Dh75,166.)

“We are very happy with this winning debut for Mabrooka. She did very well against some highly fancied colts and we are looking forward to more progress from this filly,” said Musallam Al Ameri, General Manager of the Wathba Stud Farm.
