Dubai: Jebel Ali Racecourse is gearing up to celebrate UAE National Day when it hosts an exciting six-race card, highlighted by an 1,800 metres conditions event.

The racecourse has once again received the strong support of Shaikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance, through Shadwell, his worldwide breeding operation, the sponsors of the race.

Mirza Al Sayegh, director of the office of Shaikh Hamdan reiterated that commitment at a press conference on Tuesday.

Shareef Al Halawani, Jebel Ali Racecourse Manager, said that in keeping with the National Day Festival, Friday’s meeting will have plenty to offer for the fans and families.

“Under the directives of our patron Major General Shaikh Ahmad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Chief of Dubai Police and Public Security, the priority is to ensure that the racegoers are happy, and we want to reward them for the support through an entertaining day on Friday.

The National Day festival meeting will see several Jebel Ali regulars return to contest for the principal prizes.

The six-race card will kick off at 2.15pm with the 1400m Al Redha Insurance Brokers-sponsored handicap.

The other races are sponsored by Al Shafar Investment, Shadwell, Commercial Bank of Dubai, Frayland and Orient Irrigation.

“More than Dh 10,000 will be given away to 25 lucky winners during the afternoon in addition to 130 valuable gifts,” added Al Halawani.

Al Halawani also greeted President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and Rulers of the Emirates on the occasion of National Day, wishing them all prosperity and happiness.
