Dubai: Capannelle Racecourse in Rome will mark the 13th anniversary of their partnership with Jebel Ali racecourse, by sponsoring one of the six races on Friday’s card, the penultimate meeting of the 2017-2018 UAE racing season at the venue.

“The twinning between Capannelle, Jebel Ali and Dubai, in general, is most important for our company because it allows us to have many international guests during the competition days including several ambassadors in Italy of friendly Dubai countries,” said Elio Pautasso, Director of Hippogroup Roma Capannelle during a press briefing ahead of the race meet.

“This is the 13th year of our association with Jebel Ali and Capannelle Racecourse is delighted to be a part of the competitive season at the racecourse.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank [Major General] Shaikh Ahmad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum [Deputy Chief of Dubai Police and Public Security] for the opportunity to be a partner with Jebel Ali Racecourse,” he added.

“Special thanks to Mirza Al Sayegh [Shadwell Chairman], Jebel Ali Racecourse manager Shareef Al Halawani and his team for hosting us on this occasion. It is always a great pleasure to attend the races at Jebel Ali and we look forward to another exciting day’s racing this Friday.”

Mirza Al Sayegh, Director of the office of Shaikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance, and Chairman of race sponsor, Shadwell Farm, also attended the press conference where he was joined by representatives of several sponsors including CBD, School Transport Services, Ascana and SIS UK.

“We are delighted with the progress that racing at Jebel Ali has achieved over the years due to Shaikh Hamdan’s patronage and support,” Al Sayegh, said.

“We also thank the Hippogroup Capannelle Rome and its director Elio Pautasso, for the friendship and cooperation over the last 13 years which has led us to reach more and more important goals.

“Shaikh Hamdan is committed to the continuation of his sponsorship at Jebel Ali Racecourse because of the great confidence and satisfaction in the progress that has taken place here.”

Friday’s card features five handicap events and a maiden race.
