Dubai: Trainer Michael "Lucky" Houdalakis proclaimed his star JJ The Jet Plane is back to his normal self and could land the five-furlong Group One Al Quoz Sprint on Saturday.

One of the highest-rated sprinters in the fray, JJ The Jet Planed won the Al Quoz Sprint when handled by Mike de Kock when this race was not part of the Dubai World Cup card.

Houdalakis, who is a part owner of the horse, had given the star sprinter to De Kock for the international campaign and after being handled by British trainer Richard Hannon, he was back with the owner-trainer last September.

Errors

After an 11th place finish in the prep race for the Dubai Golden Shaheen JJ The Jet Plane sizzled on the grass and Houdalakis said the errors were from his side.

"Since December, I think we got him back on track again. I made a few errors but we sorted that out, corrected everything and he is going back to normal now," Houdalakis told Gulf News during yesterday's track trials.

Elaborating on his errors, the trainer said: "I just misjudged the tracks and I gave him a break when I should not have given him a break, He just got very heavy on me.

"But he is looking great for Saturday, getting better and I hope he gets back his popularity here."
