Dubai: Princess Haya Bint Al Hussain, wife of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, will chair the new board of the Dubai Equestrian Club.
Princess Haya was appointed under Resolution No. 5 of 2013 issued by Shaikh Mohammad, in his capacity as Ruler of Dubai, for forming the board. Saeed Bin Humaid Al Tayer will serve as Deputy Chairman while other board members include Malih Lahej Al Basti, and Mohammad Ahmad Bin Abdul Aziz Al Shehi.
Shaikh Mohammad also issued Decree No 13 of 2013, amending articles no.2 and 6 in Decree No. 1 of 2006 pertaining to the setting up of Dubai Horse Racing Club.
The decree aims to keep abreast with developments witnessed by horse racing and equestrian sports in Dubai.
The amendments include tasking Dubai Horse Racing Club with implementing rules and regulations for licensing equestrian sport bodies in Dubai, as well as any activities affiliated with these bodies and any tourism stables.
The club is also assigned with the job of implementing specifications for vehicles used to transport horses by coordinating with relevant bodies in the emirate.
The new decree gives the board of Dubai Equestrian Club the authority to issue the necessary resolutions, regulations or instructions for implementing these new articles. The two decrees come into effect from the date of their issuance and are to be published in the official gazette.
