Dubai: The fifth day of the ten day-long HE Dubai Crown Prince’s Cultural Camel Festival moved into top gear at the Al Marmoum Smart Camel Racing Track with a pair of Dubai Crown Prince Trophies on offer.

With the event’s patron, Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Sports Council in attendance, the talented she-camel Eltimas captured the first of the prizes worth Dh400,000.

Owned by Khalid Faisal Mohamad Shirame, Eltimes won in a time of 09:03:3 minutes.

In a race for Local Reproductive Yezza Abkar breed and featuring fascinating female camels, Khoufa (meaning Fear) produced a strong performance to capture the Dubai Crown Prince Trophy and a cash prize of Dh400,000. Khoufa was timed at 09:04:6 minutes.

Meanwhile, Shaheen (Gray Strong Falcon), owned by Suwaidan Musabah AL Mutafayej Al Katabi outpaced his rivals in a time of 09:02:2minutes, to hand his owner a prestigious Rifle Trophy in addition to a cash prize of Dh300,000.

The fourth race for Local Reproductive Yezza Jeadan breed was seized by the hefty male-camel, Mulhim (Inspirational) who finished the distance in 09:02:8minutes. His owner Mattar Mohammad Dahroui Al Amrie, won a rifle and Dh300,000.

The morning session was very competitive as each camel’s owner sent his best star in a bid to win lucrative prizes.

However, it was the fastest she-camel, Afnan (Branches), representing the local reproductive camels, owned by Rashid Saeed Bin Manana, who won in a time of 09:04:7minutes. Bin Manana won a Nissan Station Wagon plus Dh20,000.
