Dubai: Godolphin underlined the depth of talent on offer in their juvenile ranks when Saamidd ran out a prolific winner of the Don Deadman Memorial EBF Maiden Stakes at Newbury yesterday.

A son of former Dubai World Cup winner Street Cry, Saamidd totally annihilated his 11 rivals for a widening seven length victory.

Travelling sweetly for stable jockey Frankie Dettori, the two-year-old needed little or no reminding of his task as he revealed an enthralling burst of speed at the two furlong marker to fly home seemingly on a pair of invisible wings.

One to watch

The Godolphin youngster caught the eyes of English bookmakers who offered him at 20-1 for next year's 2000 Guineas.

Dettori had every reason to be excited about Saamidd's win and said: "He came here with a big reputation and he didn't let me down. He gave me a good feel. I don't know what he beat, but he did it in style."

Meanwhile, at Nottingham, seven-time UAE champion jockey Ted Durcan continued Godolphin excellent showing in the juvenile department when partnering My Freedom to win the European Breeders' Fund Maiden Stakes.

Three-length win

Bred in Ireland by Invincible Spirit, My Freedom broke well on the outside and set out to track the leaders in fourth. He gradually moved to inside to join the leader approaching the line and soon pushed out for an easy three-length win.

Meanwhile, Goldophin are likely to be two-handed in Thursday's Yorkshire Oaks after Hibaayeb and Flying Cloud were left in at the five-day declaration stage. Last year's Darley Yorkshire Oaks runner-up Sariska heads the field and will bid to go one better.

Dar Re Mi, winner of the race last year, was a notable absentee for the day three Ebor festival highlight. Snow Fairy, winner in 2008, is also among the field.

Midday, who also starts, has finished behind Sariska on three occasions — in last year's Oaks, Darley Irish Oaks and the Totesport.com Middleton Stakes in May. He came into the race on the back of an impressive victory in the Blue Square Nassau Stakes at Goodwood.

Other notable entries include the Dermot Weld-trained Profound Beauty, a general 16-1 chance for the Emirates Airline Melbourne Cup, and the David Lanigan-trained Meeznah.

On the same day, impressive Queen Mary Stakes winner Maqaasid, a 20-1 shot with most firms for next year's 1,000 Guineas, heads an entry of just eight possibles for the Group 2 Jaguar Cars Lowther Stakes.
