Dubai: Godolphin underscored its enduring global strategy by scoring wins on both sides of the globe on an exhausting day’s racing that featured high-quality contests in the UK, Australia and the US on Saturday.

Albasharah showed herself to be a nice horse for the future when posting an impressive victory in Pride Stakes (formerly the Severals Stakes) at Newmarket after the stable’s Australian operation moved up a gear.

The five-year-old, who has had only one start since a starting stalls incident at York in July last year, look all class as she upstage a big field to win the 1,800m contest without breaking a sweat.

Second in Listed company at Yarmouth Albasharah travelled smartly under jockey Freddie Tylicki took her to the lead at the top of the straight and she stayed on comfortable to win from the Roger Varian-trained Talmada while stable companion Wahgah was third under Kieren Fallon.

Winning trainer Saeed Bin Surour told Channel 4 Racing: “She had a stalls problem in the past but we have schooled her many times in the stables. She is relaxed and happy now.

“She ran well last time at Yarmouth and improved a lot from her last race. We will keep options open — there is a Group Three in France (Saint Cloud) at the end of month.”

Meanwhile, Godolphin’s colours had been carried to victory at Caulfield racecourse in Australia on Guineas Day.

As dual Derby-winning jockey Hugh Bowman powered Amicus to win the Group 1 Thousand Guineas over a mile on an action-packed card Godolphin’s Earthquake landed the opening Group 3 Thoroughbred Club Stakes under long-time employee McEvoy.

Godolphin trainer John O’Shea is likely to aim the former champion two-year-old at the Group 1 Manikato Stakes at Moonee Valley on next Friday the Herald Sun reported.

McEvoy completed a hat-trick of wins also scoring with Hosting in the Listed Weekend Hussler Stakes and Rubic in the Group 2 Schillaci Stakes, later in the day.

Earlier in the afternoon, Shooting To Win beat favourite Rich Enuff in the Group 1 $1m Caulfield Guineas with Godolphin’s 30-1 chance Kumaon running a big race to finish a close fourth.

The winner was ridden by James McDonald for Peter & Paul Snowden, while Kerrin McEvoy donned the famous blue Godolphin silks aboard the J O’Shea-trained and Darley-bred Kumaon.

On Friday, Godolphin Melbourne Cup contenders Cavalryman and Willing Foe, both trained by Saeed bin Surour, left Newmarket for Melbourne, Australia.

The pair were scheduled to arrive at the TAB Werribee International Horse Centre on Saturday evening, to prepare for the AUS$6.2-million two-mile handicap at Flemington on November 4.
