Newmarket, England: Best Solution and Carry On Deryck are joined by Ancient History from France on the second day of the Dubai Future Champions Festival, on Saturday.

Trained by Saeed Bin Surour, Best Solution, who runs in the mile Group 3 Dubai 100 Autumn Stakes, was a close fourth over seven furlongs in the G3 Tattersalls Stakes at the course on September 22.

The Kodiac colt, a ready winner of a Goodwood maiden in July, is drawn three in a field of 10 and his rivals include Group 1 National Stakes third Lockheed plus unbeaten Listed scorer Rodaini.

His trainer Saeed Bin Surour commented: “Best Solution was unlucky to finish fourth last time out but came out of that race in good order and has been working well.

“He deserves another chance in a G3 race and I am hoping for a good run.”

Bin Surour’s Carry On Deryck and the Andre Fabre-trained Ancient History step up to Group 3 company for the first time in the Godolphin Stud And Stable Staff Awards Darley Stakes (17.20hrs) over nine furlongs.

Carry On Deryck, a four-year-old son of Halling, has performed admirably in big handicaps throughout this year and was a clear second over the same course and distance in the historic Cambridgeshire Heritage Handicap on September 24.

Ancient History, a three-year-old Shamardal colt, has gained two victories at Maisons-Laffitte, France, so far during 2016, most recently when scoring by a cosy neck over a mile and a quarter on September 26.

Bin Suroor added: “Carry On Deryck ran a very good race in the Cambridgeshire and has earned his place in a G3 contest.

“He has been going well at home and I am looking forward to another good effort from him.”

Lisa-Jane Graffard of Godolphin said: “There are limited opportunities in France for Ancient History, particularly on decent ground.

“This is a big ask based on his form but he heads to Newmarket in good shape.”

A total of eight runners for the Godolphin Stud And Stable Staff Awards Darley Stakes also features G1 winner Johannes Vermeer and Newmarket G2 scorer Custom Cut.

Elsewhere on the same card, Charlie Appleby’s Mise En Rose, who was beaten a neck in the seven-furlong Group 3 Sceptre Stakes at Doncaster on September 9, steps down in class and trip for the 13-runner Listed Visionsport.com EBF Stallions Boadicea Fillies Stakes over six furlongs.

Meanwhile, Appleby and Bin Surour are both well represented in the Group 1 Dubai Dewhurst Stakes, the season-defining £500,000 contest which usually determines the identity of the Champion Two-Year-Old of the season.

Appleby saddles up Blue Point while Bin Surour takes his chances with Thunder Snow,

Blue Point will be stepping up a furlong in distance having followed up a brilliant victory in the Group 2 Gimcrack Stakes at York with a second place in the Group 1 Juddmonte Middle Park Stakes on the Rowley Mile, failing by just three-quarters of a length to reel in the front-running The Last Lion.

Thunder Snow had a tremendous duel with another Dubai Dewhurst Stakes runner, Rivet, before succumbing by a head in last month’s Group 2 Champagne Stakes at Doncaster.

The take on the Aidan O’Brien trained Churchill and Lancaster Bomber.

A superb field is completed by two unbeaten colts — the Group 3 Solario Stakes hero, South Seas, and Seven Heavens, a member of the first crop of the outstanding 2010 winner of this race, Frankel.
