Dubai: Godolphin continued its relentless pursuit of high-quality racehorses with the acquisition of unbeaten two-year-old colt Birchwood earlier this week.

Trained by Richard Fahey, the son of Dark Angel will remain in training with York-based handler but will hereafter race in Godolphin’s Royal Blue silks.

The Godolphin racing stable, which was created in 1992 by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, are building a strong team for the future having recently bought a share in leading Epsom Derby (G1) hope Jack Hobbs,

John Ferguson, Bloodstock Advisor to Shaikh Mohammad, said on the stable’s website: “Birchwood is an unbeaten winner of two races, including a valuable Conditions race at Newbury.

“He could run in a Listed race in Ireland next week and a possible tilt at the Group 2 Superlative Stakes at the July Meeting in Newmarket.”
