Dubai: Singapore's Michael Freedman is planning an ambitious assault at the Dubai World Cup Carnival with a pair of horses that he hopes can go on to secure invitations to the Dubai World Cup meeting on March 31.

The Australian handler, who is the youngest brother of five-time Melbourne Cup winning trainer Lee Freedman, is all set to dispatch The Comedian and Always Certain to Dubai.

Strong run

Both gallopers booked their flights to the Emirate by pleasing Freedman in their most recent starts in Kranji, where The Comedian ran an impressive winner of a 1,400 metre handicap at Kranji while Always Certain caught the eye when running on strongly in the same race to finish fifth.

Freedman said in the Singapore Turf Club website: "I'm not only thrilled with the winner, but also with Always Certain who ran on very well. "I wanted to see a good run from both before they go to Dubai and they have both run well. They will now both have a good rest before they go to Dubai on February 4.

"I'm looking at a 1,400 metre race on February 16 [Al Fahidi Fort, Gr2] or a 1,400 metre or a 1,600 metre race on March 10 (Burj Nahaar, Gr 3) for The Comedian," he said.

"If they can measure up, then hopefully we get an invitation to one of the World Cup races. Or else we'll come home … " he added.
