Abu Dhabi: The Thoroughbred feature event at the capital – the Gee Whiz over 1,400m will see Dubai’s Zabeel Stables trainer Satish Seemar taking centrestage with five entries.

Despite five horses in the fray, Seemar in all likelihood, will be pinning all his hopes on stable jockey Richard Mullen to deliver the goods on Royal Revival as the mount had finished fourth in the National Day Cup prep. Royal Revival was very much on course for a fine finish then but lost out on the straight. However, having been winner thrice at Abu Dhabi, including twice over the 1400m last season, he looks firm favourite.

Jockey Mullen too was very much confident about Royal Revival rising to the occasion. “He acts well around Abu Dhabi. The tight track seems to suit him and he ran well behind Forjatt last time. Fingers crossed, he should run a big race but it does look competitive,” said Mullen while speaking to the ERA website.

Also keep a close watch on Seemar-trained Lehbab owned by Nasser Mohammadd Ahmad Al Habtoor and ridden by stable apprentice Hector Crouch.

The Granstand Stables-trainer Ali Rashid Al Raihe had ruled the roost at Friday’s races at Jebel Ali with a treble and he will be looking to build on that success as he saddles Tanseeb and Alraased, owned by Shaikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance.

Tanseeb will be ridden by Dane O’Neill while Tadhg O’Shea, who led Beachy Head to victory in the Shadwell Farm Handicap for thoroughbreds on Friday, will be on Alraased. Jockey Paul Hanagan has shown faith on Ebn Arab trained by Musabah Al Muhairi, despite it disappointing on his return on dirt at Meydan. Al Muhairi’s second bet is Special Boy ridden by Fernando Jara.

Abu Dhabi-based trainers Eric Lemartinel and Nacer Samiri will be front runners in the race for the Pure Arabians. The duo will be fielding three runners each and Lemartinel-trained Arwaah, having been the Group Two winner in her native France last year, will be the one to beat in the third race of the day over 1,600m.

Jockey O’Shea who will be on Arwaah was confident of a good show this time round saying, “She is dropping back in trip. We think that will suit her and this looks a good opportunity for her. It is a decent little race but she has been going well at home and we are hopeful.”

Estourah ridden by Gerald Avranche and Bashayer, the mount of Royston Ffrench, are the other two entries of Lemartinel.
