Abu Dhabi: The Emirati riders were on a roll on the opening day of the Al Shira’aa International Horse Show as they clinched four of the five titles up for grabs at the Al Forsan International Sports Resorts on Wednesday.
Stealing the show was 19-year-old Abdul Rahman Ahmad Ameen with a clinical round on Corando 11 to clinch the competition for young riders. Ali Khalfan Al Jahouri, Eisa Omran Al Owais, Ali Hamad Al Kirbi were the other who won in various categories for UAE.
“It was a good start for me to win here and prepare for the Grand Prix for Young Riders on Friday. I have been riding this horse for the last two years since it was bought by the Al Shira’aa Stables. That’s long enough to build a partnership and win more competitions, hopefully,” said an elated Ameen after his showing.
Shaikha Latifa Al Maktoum, riding Bsharah, finished third in the competition for young horses behind Shane Breen of Ireland on Z Seven Canya Dance and Syrian rider Hadi Nizam on Galito O.
