Dubai Emirates underlined their support of flat-racing at Jebel Ali Racecourse by once again sponsoring the full card of six races on Friday, February 9.

Billed as the Emirates Airline Race Day, the card features five competitive handicaps and a maiden race.

Shaikh Majid Al Mulla, Emirates Senior Vice-President, Commercial Operations, commented: “Emirates is happy to continue its relationship with Jebel Ali Racecourse by sponsoring a full card.

“Emirates’ support of horse racing, here in Dubai and elsewhere, is well known and has been one of the mainstays of our sports sponsorship portfolio for a long time.

“We believe that sports sponsorship is an excellent way of connecting with our sponsors, by sharing in and supporting their interest and passions,” he added.

“Beside the Dubai World Cup (G1), which we have supported since its inception in 1996, we also sponsor such diverse horse racing events around the world at Newmarket and York in Britain, the Breeders’ Cup in the United States of America, the Curragh in Ireland and the Melbourne Cup in Australia.

“These and other Emirates sports sponsorships also have helped to build Dubai’s credentials as the regional premier tourist, business, sports and financial hub” Shaikh Majid said.

“I would like to thank [Major General] Shaikh Ahmad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, [Deputy Chief of Dubai Police and Public Security] and the Jebel Ali Racecourse for their cooperation in making the Emirates Airline Race Day possible.

Shareef Al Halawani, Jebel Ali Racecourse Manager, thanked Emirates for their support of Friday’s races, which will be held under the banner of the Umm Suqueim meeting.

“Shaikh Ahmad gives importance to all race meetings held at Jebel Ali Racecourse, which has created a unique place for itself in the UAE as a family racecourse,” Al Halawani said.

“Shaikh Ahmad is keen to serve the community through the sport of horse racing and invites all racegoers to attend the races and enjoy the exciting events and competitions that make racing at Jebel Ali so special.

“We are pleased to announce that several competitions will be held during the races, with many valuable prizes to be given away to lucky racegoers,” he added.

Friday’s meeting is the eighth of the 2017-2018 UAE Racing season to be held at Jebel Ali.
