Dubai: Dubai Duty Free return to the sponsor Thursday’s second Dubai World Cup Carnival meeting, which carries a combined prize purse of $640,000 (Dh2.354 million) and also features the first running of the Listed Dubawi Stakes and the trials for the UAE Guineas Classics.

Commenting on its partnership with Dubai Racing Club, Dubai Duty Free’s Executive Vice-Chairman, Colm McLoughlin, said: “Horseracing plays an important part in Dubai Duty Free’s sponsorship portfolio and as one of the founding sponsors of Dubai World Cup, we are proud to be part of the Dubai World Cup Carnival.

“This international event taking place on January 16 proves to be a highly successful platform for the global promotion of Dubai and its world-class sporting, leisure and business facilities.

“We are proud to be sponsoring six races on the day and we are also looking forward to some great racing on March 29 for the Dubai World Cup day where the operation is sponsoring the $5 million Group 1 Dubai Duty Free.”

Admission is free to the public areas of Meydan Racecourse and tickets start at Dh50. Gates open at 5pm and the first race starts at 6.30pm.
