Sharjah: Nineteen-time Danish champion Tina Lund produced a flawless display in the One Round with Jump Off competition to win the gold at the Sharjah Equestrian & Racing Club Show Jumping championships sponsored by Longines.

The 31-year-old Red Lund, who began riding when she was nine years old, clocked times of 74.33s in the first round and 36.57s in the second to pick up a cash prize of Dh. 5,720.

Emirates Equestrian Centre’s Abdullah Mohammad Al Marri collected a cheque of Dh4,840 for his second place effort aboard the 21-year-old Sierra Joter.

Shaikh Ali Jmal Al Noaimi, representing the host club won gold in the One Round with Jomp Off competition after producing two error-free rounds where he clocked 75.71s and 37.69s. He picked up a prize of Dh4,680.

Al Safinat Stable’s Abdel Aziz Abdel Nasir Ali Owais won the Ride & Drive competition aboard the nine-year-old VIP Delle Roane to pick up a cheque for Dh3,000.

Sharjah Equestrian & Racing Club’s Salim Ahmad Al Suwaidi was a close second aboard the ten-yearold Connay Z.

Omar Aziz Al Marzouqi, representing the Al Shira’s Stable fought off some strong competition from Al Arab Stables rider Humaid Rashid Al Ketbi and Al Wathba’s Emma Finnie to bag the Two Phases gold.

Al Marzouqi clocked 48.75s and 30.14s for his two rounds over the fences.

Lund also topped the One Round Against the Clock competition aboard the seven-year-old Lord Curry to collect a cheque of Dh1,560.

Mohammad Shafi M. Al Remeithi of the Emirates Heritage Club was runner-up and Abdullah Humaid Al Muhairi (B) Sharjah Equestrian & Racing Club third.

Hicham Gharib of the Sharjah Equestrian & Racing Club found a good ally in the ten-year-old Damscus Sky to win the One Round Against the Clock competition and earn a prize of Dh3,000.

Most of the qualified show jumpers in the UAE began their careers at the Sharjah Equestrian & Racing Club who has generously sponsored a number of youths and provided them with first class trainers and horses.

The Club’s Riders are central to the success of the Emirates National Show Jumping Team which has achieved remarkable results at national and international levels.

A large number of riders from the Emirates as well as many international equestrians participated in this significant sporting event.
