Abu Dhabi: Blitters Plonja scored her second win in successive starts in the Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Flat Racing Festival's Wathba Stud Farm Cup II at the Duindigt racecourse in the Netherlands on Sunday.

The seven-year-old grey mare which also won this year's opening race of the Wathba Stud Farm Cup last month over a distance of 1,800 metres, made no mistake on Sunday, winning over 2,000 metres under jockey Anthony Deau.

Trained by Diana Dorenberg for owner Mrs F.F. Dyk-Krantz, Blitters Plonja finished ahead of Baloo DA under Bart de Koninck, with Alligator Kossack under Jadey Pietrasiewicz in third place.

Alligator Kossack, trained and owned by Huub Otermans, will run in the third race of the Wathba Stud Farm Cup series to be held on May 13.

"I am very happy with the way Blitters Plonja has performed after a long gap of nearly two years," said trainer Dorenburg, who will be saddling two other runners in the May 13 race.

Lara Sawaya, Director of the Shaikh Mansour Festival and Head of IFAHR Ladies Racing, said: "We have ten horses that have confirmed their entries for the May 13 race. The Wathba Stud Farm Cup series is aimed to encourage small and private owners to race their Purebred Arabian horses and we are delighted with the response."

The HH Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Flat Racing Festival is organised by the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority and co-ordinated by Abu Dhabi Sports Council in association with Emirates Arabian Horse Society and IFAHR.
