Dubai: Godolphin trainer Saeed Bin Surour is banking on former two-time British champion jockey Jamie Spencer as he bids to win the Group Three Sweet Solera Stakes at Newmarket for the third consecutive year.

The Emirati handler, who has won the last two editions of the fillies' contest with White Moonstone and Long Lashes, saddles unbeaten Desert Gazelle who will be making only her second career-start.

A daughter of Canadian-bred Smart Strike, the leading North American stallion in 2007 and 2008, Desert Gazelle made an attention-grabbing debut last month when winning the De La Warr Racing E.B.F Maiden Fillies' Stakes at Newmarket.

"She worked yesterday and went very nicely," Bin Surour said. "She was very impressive on her debut, but now she needs to prove herself against better fillies in a better race.

"She has to face good fillies this weekend so we'll see how she gets on, but so far she is doing really well." Bin Surour's Godolphin team-mater Mahmoud Al Zarouni has also entered Discourse, who beat subsequent Group Two Cherry Hinton winner Gamilati on her only start to date.

Roger Varian saddles Firdaws for Shaikh Hamdan Bin Rashid al Makoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance, who won this race in 2001 with Muklah.

Strong raid

Also in the line-up are the Saeed Manana-owned duo of Sajway and Semayyel, while Sultan Ali's Arsaadi completes a strong Dubai raid on the race.

Jeremy Noseda saddles Regal Realm, who was beaten half a length in the Group 3 Princess Margaret Juddmonte Stakes at Ascot in July while Sandown scorer Kinetica represents Sir Mark Prescott.

Godolphin's Sajjhaa and Class Is Class head the list of eight acceptors for the Group 3 Rose Of Lancaster Stakes at Haydock.

Trained by Bin Surour, Sajjhaa won a Listed race at York on his most recent start. The Sir Michael Stoute-trained Class Is Class, who will be ridden by Kieren Fallon, finished fourth in the Group 2 Sky Bet York Stakes on his last outing. Elusive Pimpernel, Critical Moment, Fallen Idol, Hot Prospect, Simon de Montfort and Myplacelater complete the line up.

Friday's card also features the EBF ‘Kayf Tara' Dick Hern Fillies' Stakes.

The evening features: the search for the ‘best dressed lady', with a prize of £1,000 as well as a free makeover and photography session for one lucky winner and free mini-makeovers.

All the Ladies' Night activities take place on the racecourse's Makerfield Lawn and are free for visitors to the Tattersalls Enclosure and upwards.
