Dubai: The annual Beach Polo Cup Dubai presented by Nissan will return to a purpose-built arena at Skydive Dubai on December 14-15.
Held under the patronage of Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Sports Council, the tournament has been traditionally held in April in the past, but organisers have now moved for a temperature-friendly December billing.
One of the region’s homegrown sporting events, the beach polo tournament will see four teams of local and international polo players clash on Thursday night before the final on Friday.
“We launched the sport of Beach Polo as a brand-new concept back in 2004 and the event has gone from strength-to-strength with every passing tournament,” Sam Katiela, the managing and creative director of Mamemo Productions, noted.
