Dubai: The final qualification rounds for the six championship classes in the Dubai International Arabian Horse Championships (DIAHC) saw some strong competition at the Dubai World Trade Centre on Friday.

The Dubai Arabian Horse Stud ‘s D Shallal, winner of bronze at the Abu Dhabi International Arabian Horse Championship last month, impressed the judges en route to the first place in the Yearling Colts (Class 9A) category.

D Shallal beat Yas BHM and D Ibm Rasheem.

The Yearling Colts (Class 9B) was won by Nabras, who is bred and owned by Khalid Ghanem Mubarak Al Omairi.

Second place went to AJ Kafu, representing Ajman Stud, while Al Nakheel Stud’s Shahwan Al Hawajer was third in the division.

Al Nahkeel Stud bounced back to win the Colts 2 years old (Class 10) category with SG Sa’ad,

Al Baydaa Stud’s Pharaoh Hbv was a close second and Sq Al Nato, representing Alsadran Arabian Horse Stud, third.

After some close competition the Colts 3 years old (Class 11) was won by Fuerte, a smart runner-up in the Abu Dhabi International Arabian Horse Champion last month,

Qualifiers will compete in the grand finals featuring the six championship classes for yearling, female and male, Junior, female and male, /senior, female and male on Saturday. The total prize money for the event is Dh15 million.

The Dubai International Arabian Horse Championship is the most prestigious competition of its kind in the world. It is a beauty competition for Purebred Arabian horses, from the very young to the elderly statesmen of the Arabian equine world.
