Dubai Khalifa Al Jahouri brought the curtain down on three days of thrilling competition when he won the HH The President Endurance Cup for youth in record time at Bou Thib Endurance .
Al Khalifa, the son of European champion Ali Khalfan Al Jahouri, completed the grueling 120km 2* ride in a time of four hours, 14 minutes and 11 seconds.
It was the fast time ever recorded for the junior division at Bou Thib.
“I am very happy to win such a prestigious ride as the HH The President Cup,” said Al Jahouri, who was partnering the Purebred Arabian Baraka Fard.
“The conditions were tough but I stuck to the plan and in the end everything worked out well.
“I would like to thank all those who helped in my preparation and during the ride. I look forward to competing in more events like this and hope to do my best.”
Al Jahouri, who was represent the Al Wathba Stables, received his trophy from Shaikh Sultan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President’s Representative.
Shaikh Sultan was present on all three days of the endurance festival and also took the time to tour Bou Thib Endurance Village.
Meanwhile Uruguay’s Jonathan Rivera from the Al Ain Stables, won the 100km ride for private stables.
Partnering Deis Fasnicia, Rivera crossed the finish line in a winning time of three hours, 42 minutes and five second.
“This is such an honour,” said Rivera. “I can’t believe that I have actually won today. It’s a great feeling.
“Endurance races are a big challenge, but in the end you are rewarded for your efforts. This is a great reward and I could not be more pleased.
Earlier on Friday, Khulood Mohammad Al Khouri won the 90km ladies ride while Marcos Sardo won the 80km 1* international qualifier.
Shaikh Sultan distributed the prizes to all the winners.
More than 500 endurance riders from around the UAE participated in the three days of action, which was watched by a large crowd of endurance enthusiasts.
