Abu Dhabi Racing Team show fine form
It was a glorious day for the Abu Dhabi Racing Team 1, Atlas and Al Fajer teams. At the start of the race, it was the Abu Dhabi Racing Team 1 team that was in domination, followed closely by Atlas and Al Fajer
Dubai: In a loud fury of roaring engines and water spray, the participants for the wooden powerboat race took to the waters off Mina Seyahi to compete in the fifth and final heat of the Dubai Wooden Powerboat Race for the season 2007-08, organised by the Dubai International Marine Club, on Saturday.
It was a glorious day for the Abu Dhabi Racing Team 1, Atlas and Al Fajer teams. At the start of the race, it was the Abu Dhabi Racing Team 1 team that was in domination, followed closely by Atlas and Al Fajer.
The unbeatable duo of Ahmad Al Hamli and Mohammad Mubarak Al Qamzi in Abu Dhabi Racing Team 1 dominated to the very end with Marwan Suhail Al Ayali and Mohammad Al Room in Atlas following close on their heels to take the second spot.
Khalifa Humaid Bin Zeeban single-handedly steered his boat to the third place.
Al Ayali later said: "We have been doing trial runs since the past few days and thanks to Mohammad Al Room for his technical assistance on the boat that we were able to get to the podium. Thanks also to Saeed Hareb for giving us the opportunity to participate in these events".
As soon as the green flag was raised, all 19 boats powered up and stepped on the gas, so to say. There was stiff competition as the race progressed.
