Abu Dhabi: The Hamdan Bin Rashid Festival 2014 Al Wathba Challenge Endurance Ride (120km) will take place from 7am on Saturday at Emirates International Endurance Village in Al Wathba.
The race, which is run under the patronage of Shaikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE Minister of Finance, will feature an elite group of riders from stables across the UAE
The prizes, whose value totals Dh1 million, will be distributed between the riders who complete the five stages of the race, as well as the award of a sports utility vehicle for the champion.
This was announced during a press conference held on Thursday at Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed’s Festival Wing in the Eastern Mangroves Hotel, Abu Dhabi, in the presence of Adnan Sultan Al Nuaimi, Director General of Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club, and Lara Sawaya, Director of the Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival and Head of the Ladies’ Racing Committee in the International Federation of Arabian Horse Racing Authorities.
Al Nuaimi said that, as per the directives of Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, the necessary preparations and arrangements have been completed to make the event a success.
Salim Al Sabousi, Director General of Shaikh Hamdan Racing, confirmed the race will be held under the directives of Shaikh Hamdan and the patronage of Shaikh Rashid Bin Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
