Wise Wilson keeping his expectations in check

American just wants to play the best he can

Scottsdale, Arizona: Mark Wilson has a wealth of experience when it comes to defending PGA Tour titles, and number one on his list of do's and don'ts is to set modest goals.

"I guess the main thing is try to keep the expectations out of it and just go out there and play golf and add it up and see how well I've done," Wilson said.

Wilson went into the first round of the Phoenix Open yesterday as one of the favourites after already posting one victory this year at the Humana Challenge tournament.

The 37-year-old American made his first start since his two-shot victory ten days ago in the Arizona desert.

"The main thing, I guess, is that any tournament that I've won I've gone into with very low expectations," said Wilson.

"I am not trying to win the tournament, just go out there and play the best I can and see what I shoot."
