Today sees the curtain raiser of the DHL UAE JDP junior golf league.

DHL recently joined six other sponsors in supporting the nationwide programme Junior Development Programme that currently has almost 500 juniors on its books.

Abu Dhabi Golf and Equestrian Club, Emirates Golf Club, The Desert Course, The Montgomerie Dubai and Nad Al Sheba have selected their four strongest juniors to compete in the opening fixture to be held at Nad Al Sheba with tee times between 11-11.30 am today.

The format for the day is that the teams' three best gross scores combined and three best net scores combined from the four players will form each club's aggregate total.

These totals, in accordance with relative finishing positions, are then converted into points. The gross score will achieve slightly higher points than the net.

The UAE Junior Development Programme is actively supported by corporate patrons Emaar Properties, Pepsi, Dubai Duty Free, National Bank of Dubai, Dubai Golf, DHL and Byrne. All these organisations have come forward to boost young talent.
