Hong Kong: The UAE teams finished 34th and 38th in the three-day 72-hole Asian Pacific Golf Confederation Junior Championships at Hong Kong Golf Club on Friday.

Reema Al Heloo and Mohammad Al Hajeri carded 78, 82, 172 to total 332, finishing 34th, while Tara Al Mazrouqi and Rashid Al Emadi carded 88, 106, 201, to total 395, to finish 38th.

In total 38 teams from 20 countries took part.

Individually Al Hajeri finished 27th in the overall boys standings with a score of 77. Al Emadi finished 38th on 100.

In the girls division Al Heloo finished 37th on 95 and Al Mazrouqi finished 38th on 101. Scores were an improvement on last year’s results for the UAE and Emirates Golf Federation secretary general and UAE national team captain Khalid Al Shamsi said the experience was invaluable.

“The UAE is thankful to have received an invite to participate in this championship. The APGC and Hong Kong Golf Club hosted a world-class junior championship. We are happy to see improvement from our players this year and we met some of our goals. The more our young players play in championships like this, the more improvement we will see internationally and regionally.”
