Dubai: UAE National golfers return to active golfing season by turning up in big numbers at the Palm Sports Resort Golf course today to compete in UAE Nationals monthly golf tournament.

Teeing off first at 11.20am is national team member Hassan Al Musharrakh along with single figure handicappers, Faris Al Mazrui and Saif Thabet.

Al Musharrakh's brother and fellow team member Ahmad Al Musharrakh withdrew from the field as he leaves today for Cairo to compete in the European Challenge Tour event, The Egyptian Open.

Other notable entries in Division A (Scr - 14) include Abdullah Al Musharrakh, Nabil Sharif and Abdullah Al Marzouqi. Division B (15 - 28) is also brimming with experienced golfers and will display tough competition.

Focus however will be on the UAE National Ladies Team members, Eida Al Muhairbi and Rabbab Al Haj, both boosted with confidence following their debut in recent Arab Golf Championship, now coming face to face for the Best Ladies award.

Saeed Al Budoor, General Manager of Emirates Golf Federation commented, "As organisers of the UAE Nationals Monthly Golf tournament, Emirates Golf Federation is encouraged to see huge response from Emirati golfers," he said.

Main prizes

"This season we have changed the format to Stableford to give a fair chance to all golfers. In addition to main prizes, divisional prizes are also on offer. Our sincere appreciation goes to Palm Sport Resort management who offered us courtesy of course."

Al Budoor and EGF Secretary General Adel Zarouni also join the field where the top scorers gain UAE National Order of Merit points.
