Dubai: With the Emirates Golf Federation (EGF) Order of Merit (OOM) season now over, the top amateur and junior golfers have less than a fortnight to prepare for the EGF OOM Championship.

This end of season championship is a two-day 36-hole event that will take place from May 22-23 at the Els Club in Dubai Sports City with divisions involving the top 30 men’s, women’s and junior golfers.

Rayhan Thomas won the men’s OOM with 192 gross points from one first place finish, four seconds and three thirds in eight events this season, and is a strong favourite coming into the year-ender.

Eyes will also be on Sidney De Souza, who finished second in the Men’s OOM category with a total of 148 points and Tiago Lobo, who came third with 129 points.

I n the women’s contest, Anastasia Bakal is a clear favourite having won both the net and gross women’s OOM with 221 gross points and 171 net points. Kim Chiang took second in both categories with 206 gross points and 120.3 net points, while Alkyonie Aharidis finished third with 105.5 gross points and 102.5 net points.

In the junior divisions, boys’ gross winner Aarkesh Bhatia, with 190.25 points from one win and three podium finishes, is one to watch along with second-placed Tiago Lobo with 184.75 points and third-placed Dhruv Nair on 143.5 points.

In the boys’ net division, Zubin Chandra came first with 135.6 points, Arjun Gupta came second on 135.3 points, while Dhruv Nair also finished third in the net category with 125.3 points.

Chantal Al Chaib won the girls’ gross category with 161 points, Aashaka Desai came second on 151 points and Chloe Trinh came third on 148.5 points.

Trinh won the girls’ net category with 198.5 points, Al Chaib came second on 149.3 points and Natalli Gupta came third on 135.5 points.
