Ten students from the Abu Dhabi Special Care Centre have been enjoying learning and developing their golfing skills at the first of a series of unique clinics to nature the talent of young players in the UAE capital, organised by Standard Chartered Bank ahead of the Abu Dhabi Golf Championship in January.

The centre, which looks after children suffering from both mental and physical disabilities, was the first of six schools and colleges to participate in the initiative which gives students the opportunity to learn from a professional at the Abu Dhabi Golf Club.

Scratch Golf League

The Invitational Scratch Golf League pits clubs from around the UAE against each other over 12 rounds during the season. The League is split into two sections. League A comprises Dubai Country Club/Sharjah Wanderers, Dubai Creek, Emirates GC, and Tower Links. League B has Abu Dhabi GC, Al Ghazal GC, Arabian Ranches and The Montgomerie. During matches each club fields an eight-player team in four matches of fourball betterball matchplay. The two leading from each league progress through to the semi-finals. Defending champions are Arabian Ranches who suffered a surprise 4-0 defeat to The Montgomerie in their opening fixture.
