Dubai: In extremely hot and at times breezy conditions, Alan Stanton took top honours in the August BMW Monthly Medal at Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club with some rock-steady play.

The South African, playing after a three-month break from golf, showed little rustiness in carding a gross 75 and net 70.

"It was great to be back playing," said Stanton afterwards. "The course was in great shape and I really want to thank our new superintendent, Matt Perry, for his hard work since taking over at the Creek."

The runner up in Division A was Alok Pant. A frustrating double bogey six on the tough 18th hole meant that Pant had to settle for a net 72, two shots adrift of the winner.

In Division B Pritam Merchandani shot a net 76, a score that proved good enough to secure victory by a single shot from Robert Platt.

The Ladies Division was won by Chikako Onoue who snatched the win on countback from Maureen Platt and Paul King.
