Dubai: Chayuda Singhsuwan — tipped to be the next big thing in Thai golf — has been given an invite to play in the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters at Emirates Golf Club from December 7-10.

A two-time amateur winner of the Thailand Ladies Open before turning professional in 2010, Singhsuwan, 26, has gone on to win praise for her performances on the Thai national team and on tours in Thailand, China and Taiwan.

She will now compete in a star-studded field in Dubai alongside defending champion Shanshan Feng, Tiger Woods’ niece Cheyenne, Laura Davies and Charley Hull.

“I’m really excited to get out there and play alongside such a world-class field, it’s just awesome. I can’t wait to get started,” said Singhsuwan, who also wants to follow in the footsteps of Ariya Jutanugarn, the first golfer, male or female, from Thailand to win a major championship, a feat she achieved at the Women’s British Open this year.

“What Ariya has accomplished is just phenomenal. She is a role model for all aspiring Thai golfers. I am grateful to Golf in Dubai for the invitation. Hopefully, I can go out there and be competitive. Whatever the outcome, it will be a great learning curve for me. I am sure I will return home with memories to cherish for a long time to come.

“If I play to my potential, I can expect a good result. I am looking forward to the challenge and making friends with some of the top players in the world,”

Mohammad Juma Bu Amim, vice chairman and chief executive officer of event organisers Golf in Dubai said: “Chayuda is an emerging star on the horizon, one who is also a savvy, social media type that the game needs to attract new talent.

“We try and rotate invitations each year so that everyone who has achieved a certain level gets first-hand experience of what it takes to compete at this level of golf. I wish Chayuda the very best and hope her presence in a world-class field will motivate other emerging players to aim for greater things in life.”
