Dubai: Edward Rice and Ryan Luke shot a superb better ball score of 40 points to win the inaugural Dubai Creek Challenge, sponsored by Seven Seas Ship Chandlers.

The windy conditions at Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club did not prevent the duo carding four gross birdies and 14 pars between them as they defeated nearest challengers Anish Bhatia and Suresh Shewakramani by one shot.

Humayun Shahryar and Julien Pfeil finished alone in third with 38 points.

The tournament, also supported by EPL FZCo and Auvest, saw 52 pairs do battle.

Nearest to the pins were won by Joseph Andrade and Erick Matabang. Longest drives were won by Naema Maya and Luke.

The Dubai Creek staff competed in their own challenge with trophies donated by member Patrick Morrow.

The par three beginners division was won by Paul Quiambao with a gross 69 with Romulo Hornido's gross 71 finishing second.

Cynthia Ruiz was ladies champion with 31 points and runner up was Nimfa Lauzon on 25 points. Billy Berendes claimed the men's win with 36 points, from Manny Murillo with 34.
