Dubai: The team of Burhan Mohammad, Huzaifa Mohammad, S. Srinivasan and Kuttan Mallathiri walked away with the top honours, scoring 111 points over 18-holes, at the UAE National Day golf tournament.

The UGA event, sponsored by Tameer, proved to be a grand affair. UAE National golfers from all walks of life were grouped with other enthusiastic participants into teams of four for a great day the Montgomerie.

The team of Angelo Kondes, Veraena Kondes, Jonathan Perry and June Perry took second place, scoring 109 points, while the team of Dileep Kumar, Anand Kapoor, Vinay Mehra and Kush Sama posted 101 points for third place.

Camaraderie

With four-ball better ball being the format of play, the fun-filled tournament teed off at 12:45 in the afternoon with a full field and proved to be a day to celebrate the spirit of sportsmanship and bask in the glory of camaraderie.

Rajeh Maalouf won the men's nearest-the-pin prize on hole 13 and James Musgrave took the honours on hole 17. Irving Underwood walked away with the men's longest drive award on hole 10, while Chris Elms won the same prize on hole 18.

Among the ladies, Adele Mckelvey, last season's UGA Ladies Order of Merit winner, took the longest drive prize on hole 3 and Sandra Grenet won it on hole 8. Rae Kondes's won the nearest-the-pin prize on hole 6 and Eeke Krijer's took it on hole.

UAE National Champion Khalid Yousuf - who added another golden feather to his cap this year, with his victory in Egypt recently, where the UAE team were crowned Pan Arab Junior Golf Champions - added star value to the event.
