Dubai: Dubai-based amateur golfer Rhea Nair finished tied for 65th in Group B at the Ladies European Tour (LET) qualifying school in La Manga, Spain last week after scoring 19 over par at 307 [75,74,82,76].

Although disappointed she didn't progress to the finals and earn an LET tour card in her first attempt the Indian national, 22, who went to the University of Alabama and now plays out of Orlando on the Futures Tour comes away from the experience with positives.

Out of all UAE based players at Q-School last week Nair finished highest in the rankings after South African golfer Lindsay Brown ended 94th in Group A with 34 over par at 322 [80,80,82,80] and Chris Davies of the Philippines finished tied for 68th 21 over par [75,78,77,79] in his group in the men's Asian Tour entry-playoffs in Thailand.

Only the top 35 progress from each group in the LET Q-school to a second round where the top 50 filter into a final where the last 30 receive cards for 2012.

Nair, who has played as an invite at two professional LET events — the 2010 Omega Dubai Ladies Masters and the 2011 Hero Honda Women's Indian Open, told Gulf News: "I'm obviously disappointed not to make the grade but it was a good learning experience and it definitely taught me about the things I need to improve upon. There are a lot of positives to take away from it. I just need to keep working hard for next year.
