Dubai: John Mills (0) returned a gross one-under-par 71 to win the November Rivoli Monthly Medal supported by Marble Renewal of UAE.
Mills, who will attempt to qualify for the European Seniors Tour later this month, was in his elements from Tee to Green and posted three birdies to offset two bogeys on holes 5 and 10. The thirteen pars posted during his round were typical and a mark of the steady play that Mills is known for.
"I feel satisfied with my performance especially leading up to the qualifying event in Portugal, to be able to score 71 at Ranches gives me a lot of confidence going forward," he remarked after completing his round.
Mills, who has been runner-up in the previous two editions of the event, had it all his own way on Friday winning by five shots from last month's winner Tony Azoulay.
The net round of the day belonged to Division ‘A' Champion Wim Boogaerts (10) who shot a gross 73 for a net 63.
First victory
In the Ladies Division Maureen Onuonga (32) blew away the competition with a flawless performance. Onuonga was able to post a Net 71 to win the Ladies Net Division. Onuonga played steady golf and managed the course well on her way to her first Rivoli Monthly Medal victory.
Ashley Anderson (9) won the ladies gross prize with 87.
Francois Wolfaardt, golf manager, commented at the prize distribution ceremony. "This was a very exciting event with all the men battling for a place in the Singles Matchplay Championship and with the last ten places up for grabs in December, the next Rivoli Monthly Medal will be even more exciting. I also want to thank Rivoli for their generous support in one of the clubs most prestigious events"
