Dubai: Naima Maya was crowned the 15th Dubai Duty Free World Golf Cup champion after scoring an amazing 42 points on the final round. The score over the Dubai Creek course made a total of 76 points to clinch a one-point victory over Art Millar.

Maya collected the stunning trophy from Managing Director of Dubai Duty Free, Colm McLoughlin, who commented: "This is the 15th year we have held this event and every year it has been held at Dubai Creek apart from when the course was closed.

"It has gone from strength to strength with 130 entries this year. My congratulations go out to all the winners."

Miller claimed the overall visitor's prize with his total of 75 points, while the overall Dubai-based winner was Sandy McPhearson with 78 points.

Overall runner-up went to Clark Francis with 74 points and in third place overall was Dubai Creek member Joseph Andrade with 73 points. Other winners in the men's division were George Hunter, Steve Flanagan, Jan Stefan Camerini, Dave Cattanach, Ian Walton and Rai Legnar.

The overall ladies' division visitor winner was Nancy Miller with a total of 64 points, six clear of overall runner-up Nicky Lightfoot.

In the Dubai-based category, Charmaine Bruwer was second with 56 points, leaving Jacqui Barry in third on 55 points. Other winners in the ladies' division were Margaret Daly, Carla Reidel, Carmel King, Margaret Hope and Joan Legnar.

In the senior category, Cees Van Dooran was triumphant with his total of 74 points, with Adel Zarouni finishing runner-up on 67 points. Super Seniors winner was the sprightly Gunther Becker, finishing with a grand total of 61 points.

Also collecting prizes for nearest the pin and longest drive were Margaret Hope, Joan Legnar, Mark Riches, Dave Cattanach, Jacqui Barry, Maria Van Dooren, James Mclean, Ian Robertshaw, Nicky Lightfoot, Naima Maya, Aiden McNulty, Rabih Sfeila, Charmaine Bruwer, Joseph Andrade and Jean Stefan Camerini.
