Dubai: The Majlis Golf Course at the Emirates Golf Club (EGC), home to the European PGA Tour's Dubai Desert Classic, has been officially ranked among the "World's Top 100" golf courses by internationally-acclaimed golf magazine Golf World.

The first grass course to be built in the Middle East, the Majlis is a challenging par 72, 7,301-yard layout sculptured around desert dunes. It has been ranked the highest in the Middle East by Golf World, confirming its position at the forefront of the sport both regionally and globally.

The latest accolade adds to a long list of prestigious awards the club has claimed since its inception in 1988 through the vision of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

Chris May, General Manager, EGC and Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club said: "Over the years Emirates Golf Club has received many awards by continually setting the standard for golf in the region.. However, to be officially recognised amongst the very best courses in the world by an independent panel of experts is very special."

The course is affectionately known as "The Desert Miracle".
