Bangalore: Local professional S. Madaiah and his team of Arun Bajaj, Arun Pandurang and N. Prakash won the Emaar-MGF PGTI Championship Pro-Am competition which was played at the Karnataka Golf Association (KGA).

The creme de la creme of Bangalore's amateur golfing fraternity participated in the competition, mingling with the country's leading professional golfers over 18-holes of relaxed and enjoyable golf.

Close to 32 teams participated in the Pro-Am which was played according to the Texas Scramble format.

S. Madaiah and his team of Arun Bajaj, Arun Pandurang and N. Prakash won the first prize with a nett score of 61.07.

As an added bonus for the professionals, Madaiah collected a cheque of Rs40,000 for his effort.

The second prize was won by Gurbaaz Mann and his team of David D'Souza, Nikhil Sen and Priya Khanna with a nett total of 62.5, earning professional Gurbaaz Mann a cheque of Rs25,000 for finishing second.

"I really enjoyed playing with my teammates and we had fun on the course," said a relaxed Gurbaaz.

Alok Gupta, Executive Vice-President Marketing, McDowell & Co, Sandeep Kulhalli, Business Head Retailing Service Group, Titan Industries Limited, Raju Sahni, Alok Malhotra, MD, Tommy Hilfiger, Vishal Dhupar, MD, Symantec, Jothiramalingam K., Principal Secretary to Government Labour Department, and B. Ashok, Senior Vice-President Cisco Systems, along with Tarun Mehrotra, Head Business Development, Emaar MGF, were some of the most prominent golfers who participated in the competition.

Quality field

The professional list included the winner of the inaugural Emaar MGF PGTI Championship Harmeet Kahlon, No 1 golfer from the past four years Mukesh Kumar, Digvijay Singh and Ashok Kumar amongst others.

Naman Dawar and his teammates Utpal Desai, John Serrao and Amar Pandey finished third with a nett score of 62.9. Professional Dawar earned Rs10,000 as professional in the team.

The third leg of the 2006-07 season on the Professional Golf Tour of India, the Emaar-MGF PGTI Championship was promoted by golf in DUBAI.
