Dubai: Bayhaan Lakdawala won the 2015 Omega Dubai Creek Men’s Amateur Open Champion, which concluded over the weekend at Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht club.

After having narrowly missed out on last year’s event, Lakdawala was determined to keep hold of the lead and started the second round strongly. The pressure seemed to get to young Mikhail Pinto, overnight leader, and further dropped shots on the front nine — meaning that he was now all but out of the race.

“I would like to thank Omega for their continued support, especially towards our Dubai Creek Men’s Open. Big thanks to Stephen, Rashid and their team for organising another fantastic tournament, which I’m certain, every competitor enjoyed. Special thanks to Matthew Perry and his team for their efforts in setting up the course, it was in remarkable shape. All the above made for a competitive and enjoyable weekend and I am already looking forward to defending my title next year,” the champion said.

Christopher Rahm finished runner-up after rounds of 75 & 76 for a total of 151. Previous champion Miki Mirza finished third with rounds of 78 & 75 for a 153 total. Another Creek member Max Burrow, shot 77 both days, which gave him a 154 total and saw him, finish fourth and Ricky Dominguez of Sharjah Golf & Shooting club took fifth place with rounds of 76 & 78.
