Dubai. Nick Kane scored a 43 points with a better back nine score to win the annual Mark Fahy Memorial Golf Tournament sponsored by Dubai Duty Free at the rolling fairways of the Earth Course at Jumeirah Golf Estates playing host to the Dubai Irish Golf Society (DIGS).

On what was a warm and at times blustery day, over sixty DIGS members turned out to support the event which runs in memory of Fahy, a prominent figure within the Irish community in Dubai before sadly losing his battle with cancer.

David Richardson was the winner of the Men’s Division with 43 points while Paul Byrne was the runner-up with 37 points. Matt Nano finished third with a score of 36.

Winner of the Nearest to the Pin on Hole 17 was Ewan Mitchell and Ian Griffin hit the Longest Drive on Hole 14.

The winner of Best Gross was the every impressive Harry Sheedy, with a gross 77 Harry is certainly a name to look out for in the future.

I am glad the competition was so closely contested and that a great was had by all.”

The Ladies Division played between the better half of the field was a tightly fought contest: Winner of Nearest to the Pin on hole 6 was Sile McIlroy who also picked up the winner of Longest Drive on hole 9. Ladies Division runner up was Nicola Chittenden with 31 points winning on a better back nine score from Sile McIlroy. The champion lady golfer with a brilliant 32 points was Evelyn O’Brien.
