Sandwich: Popular Spanish veteran Miguel Angel Jimnez had sharp words for journalists covering the British Open here on Thursday saying that they needed to move on from the death of Seve Ballesteros.

The crowd favourite, who was particularly adored by British golf fans at the Open which he won three times, died in May aged 54 after a long battle against a brain tumour.

This year's tournament at Royal St George's sees several special tributes to him in the official programmes and set up around the course while television specials have carried old footage of his triumphs.

But asked what he felt about the tributes to his compatriot, the 47-year-old Jimnez answered back sharply.

"The tribute to Seve here is very nice because we miss him, and he make so much for golf all through his life, and we have to thank him for what he do for golf, no?" he said.

"But I've already said that. This is the third interview today and the third time I'm going to answer the same question, you know?

"We all miss Seve, and I think we need to keep moving on. It's nice that they made that for him, and it's nice to make that tribute for him.

"But now I think is a moment also to start to concentrate on the golf tournament and keep moving on, you know?

"I think Seve, especially here in this country, they love him And I think it's time to concentrate on start moving on, because if not, you cannot play. We are human, and it's the moment to say, okay, go."
