Dubai: The 18th annual Indian Independence Day golf tournament, featuring a full field, tees off at the Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club on Thursday, with a 12.45pm shot gun start.

The flagship event of the Indian Golfers Society, which marks the start of the society’s season of activities, is aimed at providing a platform for amateur golfers to network and interact within a cosmopolitan community.

The tournament, supported by Bentley, Chivas, Kohinoor Rice, MidCom and aiplgolf.com, will follow the individual stableford format with a three quarter handicap allowance — men’s not to exceed the course handicap of 25 and ladies 32.

The top three winners in each of the two divisions will be presented with awards along with the best senior (over 60). There are also prizes for the longest drive and nearest to the pin winners. The presentation will be followed a gala dinner.

Interested golfers may contact the golf reservation desk at the Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club for more details.
