Turnberry Scotland: Sergio Garcia has declared he can't wait to play in the Race to Dubai and most importantly he "wants to win it!"
The Spaniard, winner of this year's Players Championship in May, enjoys a working relationship as a wind course designer with Jumeirah Golf Estates, hosts of the 2009 Dubai World Championships. But he is eager to be known in Dubai for his golfing exploits and as winner of the first ever Race to Dubai.
"I want to be in it and I want to win it," the 28-year-old said. "The tournament represents a real statement of intent by the European Tour and by Dubai. The Tour has clearly moved up a gear in its ability to attract the world's best players and Dubai has reinforced its position as a centre of world golf.
"It will certainly help the players stay focused throughout the year and I for one will be seeking to get to Dubai and make a great finish to the season," he said.
